A Great End to the Week....

Judah got to play with friends this morning, A.J. and Steele came up to the house for a little playdate. After that, Jude and I went to Target to get me some of these!
I kept telling myself I couldn't do flats....but I wear flip flops ALL THE TIME so what is the difference? so I bit the bullet, and I love them. Also purchased were some watercolor paints for Judah, some clearance clothes for him too, and a new notebook and pens for me. And then on the way home....mmmmmmmmmmm...Nonfat iced chai light ice.......THIS makes me happy!

What does the weekend hold? Well, Brent ISN'T working tomorrow, so maybe I can convince him to take us to the dog beach in SanDiego. It has been really warm here the past few days, so a cool breezy lazy day at the beach sounds like a fun family day!

Oh, and no owners have come forward for Guiness, the black pug, and I have a new home pretty much all lined up for him with a friend up in Sacramento if his owners don't claim him! Don't worry everyone (mom and dad!) We're not planning on keeping him. It is going to be hard to say goodbye to his cute little face, but I know he is going to go to a great home!

Just so the rest don't feel left out.....

And a me and Judah pic, just because!

Have a great weekend all!

Burn To Shine--- the race car song

It is such a great thing when you get to see your own child's imagination working! Judah loves to listen to music in the car, and today I just happened to have in some Ben Harper, Burn to Shine. He really likes the song "Steal My Kisses". About half-way through the song he said, "Mommy, this song is about boys and girls." I don't know how he knew that! It was so funny! Then when the next song started, "Burn to Shine", right off the bat said, "Mommy, this song is about race cars." It isn't about race cars, but something about the first few measures of the song, lots of blues types guitar riffs, made him think...hmmmm..race cars! I just thought it was so funny! If you want to hear what he was talking about, go here for a snippit of both of these songs.

So I did it....I passed the California State Drivers License test!!!! I only got 1 questiong wrong, and it was a ridiculously hypothetical question! So I have my little slip of paper, and I get the real thing in 30 days. And I even took a decent picture, for a change!

Well, what does the weekend hold? Brent is again working this Saturday. They are really trying to get this job in Palm Springs done by early next week, so they are all doing some overtime. And I have to say, I will be really glad when Brent doesn't have a 2 hour commute every morning and evening. It has been really hard on all of us. His next job will be in Ontario, only a 45 min. commute, which seems like a breeze right now! On Sunday, I think we are going to head down to SanDiego in the afternoon to hit Ikea and possibly the beach. We have needed a new dresser for a while, our old hand-me-down ones are ungly, bulky, and falling apart, so we left them in storage when we moved up here a month ago. We would like to get one large clean lined one that we can share. I'm excited to go see what our options are. And let's face it, a trip to Ikea is like having a party, so I'm excited!

I will leave you with some new pics of Judah and his new favorite thing to do outside. He just loves to dribble the basketball, and **shoot** hoops! Psssst, don't tell Brent! He will call him a pumkin pusher! (what all the wrestlers called b-ball players in High School)

Some Random Things

Babysiting Benjy and Allie today....Judah had on a plastic helmet, and kept saying, "I'm Captain Helmet!" He kindof says "helmet" weird, ya know, with out a great "L" sound, plus the helmet was muffling his words, and Benjy kept asking him "What?" As Judah repeated it, Benjy turned and asked me, "Who is Captain Homo?"

We have a pug in our midst....Meet Guiness
Judah and I were at the playground last week, and a lady found him lying in the middle of the street. She didn't know what to do with him, and Animal Control was over an hour away, so I volunteered to take him up to the shelter on my way home. Well, we fell in love in the car, made it to the shelter to fill out a found report, and took him home for a 30 day waiting period. We're not sure what we're going to do after that 30 days is up, but he will be neutered and we will find him a good home! But for now, he is fitting in quite nicely!

Brent's mom is coming for a visit in 2 1/2 weeks! We all can't wait. We have been on family withdrawls since Christmas, and it will be so nice to have her here, for a whole week! YEAH!!!

Judah just woke up from his nap and is eating a Cadburry Egg....yummmmmmm. Erica knows my weakness, well, one of them at least. And Judah and I are reaping the benefits! thanks Erica!

I am on my way to being a true California citizen....I go in tomorrow morning to get my new license. Wish for a good hair day for me. I *HATE* DL pictures!

Have to jet for now, time to play outside. Judah got a new bike helmet he just can't wait to try out!

What's a mup?

Potty training isn't going so well...I'm about ready to give up. I'm starting to think that even though he is showing alot of the signs of being ready, he may not actually be ready. We had a frustrating day today.. and this is why:

--> trip to the DMV to renew my license (expires tomorrow, on my birthday), my first CA license. was told I needed my ORIGINAL birth certificate...
--> had to call my mom and have her overnight the BC ($28)
--> had a battle of the wills with Cooper (bulldog who lives here...if he was my dog he would be gone by now!)
--> cleaned up multiple "accidents" with carpet cleaner
--> had NO sucesses with Judah actually going peepee in the potty. :(

But then we got to our small group tonight and everyone brought stuff for carne asadas!!! And Christy had made a butt load of rice krispy treats just for my birthday! We didn't even do a bible study, just hang-out time fellowshipping with each other. Even some people who are friends but not a part of our small group were invited just for my birthday! Christy had made me a big picture frame collage with pics of our family, Judah, and his friends. It was so special! I love it. And my friend Emily got me some flowers, yellow daisys--my favorite! They look really great in my new vase. Too late to do pics right now, but maybe soon. Anyway, it was a great night with friends! I am ging to miss celebrating with my family so much, so this helped it feel special even though we are far away from family and friends.

Then when we got home, Brent was getting Judah in his jammies, and asked me if he should put on a diaper or a pull-up. So I said, "A diaper, We have to use 'em up." Then Judah looked at me and said, "What's a mup?"
Brent and I just died laughing, and realized that it was a very valid question! That boy cracks me up!

A Detour in the Road **updated**

I think Judah has croup...He woke up at 5:30 this morning and couldn't get a breath with out coughing violently. I almost took him to the ER, but then he calmed down and fell asleep in my bed, where he is still sleeping soundly. Dr. appt. at 11, so potty training will have to wait, for now...

****UPDATE*****

Judah is doing better. His doctor said that he was wheezing, and very congested, but other than that, nothing that requires antibiotics. She just gave us another albuterol inhaler and he has to take it 3 times a day. He has been so much better taking it than last time. He didn't throw a fit at all, and breathed it all in without any crying!!! What a big boy! I am so proud of him. Since it isn't anything as serious as I thought, I am going to try to start potty training tomorrow. I will leave you with a picture of Judah and his brand new Laser gun! He loves it!

It was like a sign from God...

Changing Judah's diaper in the van tonight, and the tab broke off the side while I was stretching it on...no more diapers in the car. I just bough a pack of diapers Friday, and I told myself it was the last. So I wasn't going to buy another one, and we were far from home, with no intention of returning anytime soon....so I went to the store and bought a pack of pull-ups, and then later a pack of big boy undies. Judah picked out the Diego ones, and I picked out a pack of all whities. I also picked up a bag of Skittles and a clear jar to tempt Judah with. So he already went pee-pee 2 times tonight, and we're starting first thing in the AM full bore...please stop a minute and pray for us. I guess mostly me, that I would have patience with Judah!

Lots going on here, and I have been a bad blogger! Sorry, I think I just hit a wall this week. Brent is still working 2 hours away, and I've been feeling alot like a single mom the past few weeks. But the end is near, Brent said hopefully only one more week in the Palm Desert. Hopefully their next job is a little closer to home. Judah really misses spending time with his dad. They had a daddy/Judah day on Saturday while Jager and I went to another Golden Meetup in San Diego. I would post pics but honestly, I'm too lazy tonight. I will come back and do it later....must sleep now. Daylight Savings is reeking havoc on me...

The End Is Near

What a whirlwind! I feel so out of touch this week. We just finally got everything moved! About 1/2 of our "stuff" is in a storage unit, and the other half is up at our new place (most still in boxes, though). Brent and I have a goal to get everything unpacked this weekend, and be box free! And even thought there is still alot of work left to do, it does not even compare to the stress of deciding what goes with us and what goes to storage, how do we get everything moved, who is going to help Brent with the big things (like the sofa bed??? not me! thanks Josh Paschall!!) , and just all the stress of leaving an apartment. It has been a busy week!

Lot's of changes this week too!

*Judah is sleeping in a big boy bed! And he loves it! It took a little getting used to, but he has made the transition fairly easily.

*He is also eating at the bar on a barstool, no more high chair!

*Jager has 2 new doggie buddies that live up here with the family. Cooper, a 2 year old Bulldog, and Cory, a 1 year old shephard mix. They all get along really well, and have worn each other out playing until all hours of the night.

*We are switching from Cable to Dirct TV, I know, kindof silly to be excited about, but nonetheless, excited to get it all hooked up. Judah is getting sick of watching the same DVD's over and over. (And I need my Survivor)

*I just heard some news from Brent. The company he works for is getting so busy, they are looking to possibly start up a new crew, and Brent may be asked to be a foreman for that crew. So keep him in your prayers. He loved having his own crew in Boise, and would be equally excited to do it again!

And here are some great bonuses of living where we are now! ( I have to think of the bonuses b/c we are now 15 minutes from anywhere, and so positive thinking is saving me...)

*a huge fenced in yard for Jager and Judah to play in

*a lagre concrete basketball court and concrete path around the yard for Judah to ride his bike on! (and no parking lot!!!)

*being closer to nature (I saw a coyote on the way to town yesterday!)

*saving $800/month on rent :)

*a private pool and spa when it gets warm enough!

*less square footage to clean

*getting to know the fire danger everyday! (we pass through an ecological reserve area to get home, and there is one of those smokey bear signs with the fire danger on it! It is low today.. .. .. this isn't our sign, just one like ours.) *We are about 15 minutes away from any fast food, so this will force me to do more cooking! That is a good thing, right?

*A freash start is always fun in some ways. Getting to re-organize everything, re-arrange things, you know.. .. ..it feels like I just did that about a year ago... ... ... ...

Here are a few pictures of moving

Oh, and a cute one of Judah and Benjy from last week!

Have a great weekend everyone! And, if you think about Brent and his job situation, would you pray? thank you!
